Identifying Challenges
The Underlying Problems
Inconsistent commitment
Personal trainers often face the difficulty of clients not committing fully to their fitness goals. Clients may lack consistency in attending sessions, following the recommended diet or exercise plans, or not putting in the necessary effort outside of training sessions.
Unrealistic expectations
Some clients may have unrealistic expectations about the time it takes to achieve their desired results. This can put pressure on personal trainers to deliver quick results, despite the need for a sustained and realistic approach to fitness
Lack of motivation or effort
Personal trainers may find it challenging to motivate clients who lack the drive or enthusiasm required to make progress. This can make it difficult to establish a positive and productive training environment.
Non-compliance with professional advice
Clients may disregard or fail to follow the advice and instructions provided by their personal trainers. This can hinder progress and lead to frustration for both parties.
Poor communication and feedback
Personal trainers rely on open communication and feedback from clients to continually tailor their approach and training plans. When clients fail to provide necessary feedback or communicate their concerns, it can make it challenging for the trainer to address their needs effectively
Difficulty in managing expectations
Some clients may have unrealistic expectations of what they can achieve within a given timeframe or with their current level of commitment. Personal trainers must manage these expectations and educate clients about the realistic outcomes of their efforts.
Resistance to change
Clients may be resistant to making necessary lifestyle or dietary changes to support their fitness goals. Personal trainers may face challenges in convincing clients to adopt healthier habits and make necessary adjustments to their routines.
Lack of consistency in communication
Clients may not consistently communicate changes in their availability, schedule, or other pertinent information. This can make it challenging for personal trainers to plan and manage their clients' sessions efficiently.
Help with nutrition programs
Many clients have expressed the need for nutrition programs to better support their goals and improve their dietary habits. They feel that having access to informative and well-designed nutrition programs would greatly benefit their overall lifestyle.
Clear and comprehensive video content
clients have highlighted the importance of clear and comprehensive content, including instructional videos, to support their exercise routines. They believe that having access to well-designed instructional materials would enhance their understanding of proper exercise techniques and enable them to perform exercises effectively and safely.
Non-payment or late payments
Personal trainers may encounter issues with clients not paying on time or avoiding payment altogether, which can disrupt their business operations and financial stability.

User Research
A Comprehensive Analysis of Industry Rivals
During the initial research phase, I conducted competitor analysis by examining various platforms such as Freelics, My PT Hub, and TrueCoach. This examination enabled me to identify and comprehend the respective strengths and weaknesses of each platform. Armed with this insight, I concentrated on improving several areas that lacked in the competition.
Reasearch
Unveiling Insights through User Research.
Through these interviews, our aim was to identify and gain insight into the specific pain points experienced by personal trainers and clients when it comes to collaborating efficiently. By understanding these pain points, we can work towards developing solutions that address the core issues and improve the overall collaboration experience between trainers and clients.
Research
We created multiple persona profiles.
Through extensive research and analysis, we created distinct user personal profiles by analyzing preferences, demographics, behaviors, and motivations. These profiles enabled us to design tailored experiences and deliver personalized solutions that resonated with our target audiences, fostering stronger connections and meaningful engagement.
Information Architecture
The start of the app mapping, gave us a base for Initial requirements.
The research provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the market competition and their strengths and weaknesses. It empowered me to develop an initial site map for the product, revealing potential areas that required focus and expansion in the initial MVP. This greatly facilitated the process of creating and exploring various user journeys, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience in multiple aspects.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Time to start some low-fidelity wireframing.
During the low-fidelity wireframes phase, the focus was on creating simple visuals that depicted the structure and layout of a digital product. The emphasis was on functionality and information architecture. This allowed for collaboration and feedback, ensuring alignment with project goals. These wireframes served as blueprints for design elements and interactions, enabling the evaluation of usability and the refinement of ideas. The low-fidelity wireframes played a crucial role in fostering a shared vision among all involved parties before progressing to more refined designs.
